SIP calculator — frequently asked questions

What is a SIP calculator?

A SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) calculator estimates the future value of a fixed monthly mutual-fund investment, based on the amount, expected annual return and time period, using monthly compounding.

How is SIP maturity value calculated?

Future value = P × [((1 + r)^n − 1) / r] × (1 + r), where P is the monthly investment, r is the monthly rate of return (annual ÷ 12) and n is the number of months. This calculator shows the invested amount and estimated gains separately.

Is the SIP calculator free?

Yes. The Baasava Hathiwala SIP calculator is free, runs entirely in your browser, and needs no sign-up. It is for education only and does not guarantee returns.

What return should I assume for a SIP?

Returns vary by fund and market. Equity mutual funds have historically delivered around 10–14% p.a. over long periods, but past performance does not guarantee future results. Try different rates to see a range of outcomes.
