Frequently asked questions

What is a Portfolio Management Service (PMS)?

A PMS is a SEBI-registered service in which a portfolio manager builds and manages a portfolio of securities on your behalf in an account held in your name. Unlike a mutual fund, you directly own the underlying securities.

What is the minimum investment for a PMS in India?

SEBI mandates a minimum investment of Rs 50 lakh. Individual strategies may set a higher minimum.

How is "top-performing" decided here?

Objectively — strategies are ranked by 3-Year CAGR among those with at least 3 years of history (tie-broken by 5Y CAGR, then since-inception). A high 1-year return alone does not make a strategy "best", and newly launched strategies are labelled "Limited track record".

Where does the data come from?

The comprehensive comparable dataset is as of 30 June 2026, compiled from PMS Bazaar, APMI and official PMS/AMC disclosures. Some strategies carry a 31 July 2026 figure from the Business Today PMS tracker instead. Every row shows its own date and source. Company, strategy and manager details are from public disclosures.
